This week we began our 4-H County Fair starting off with the Clothing Construction Judging on Monday. I haven't been around much to help the girls with their sewing projects this summer, so unfortunately my youngest didn't finish her dress in time. However, her grandma helped her with a skirt so she at least had something to model. My oldest won a purple in construction on her dress and Grand Champion on modeling. This is her final year in 4-H so it was a delightful way to end her 4-H sewing experience.
Wednesday, the girls had their Foods Judging, and that went pretty well. We always enjoy their baked goods as a special treat during the fair! This year they made Sesame Onion and Rosemary Garlic Braids, Apple and Cherry Pies, an Angel Food Cake and a Lemon Poppy Seed Cake. Our youngest received Reserve Champion on her Cherry Pie and will get to auction a pie at the concluding 4-H Sale next Monday. Next in line is the judging of their art and reading projects and the horse judging on Sunday.
Fortunately, we're having lovely weather with temperatures in the mid-80's. Couldn't ask for better than that in July!
