As mentioned in an earlier post, I drove to Denver by myself, deciding to make the trip to ICRS a GRAND adventure. It turned out to be a really fun experience as I dropped by book stores along the way to introduce myself and give them a little treat (snickerdoodles & chocolate). All-in-all, I visited 10 stores from Wichita to Denver and then back again by a different route through Topeka.
I so enjoyed meeting the owners and managers and was pleased to see that all the stores had Snow Melts in Spring in stock. Yeah! Pictured below with store representatives from Faith & Life Bookstore, (Newton, KS) Lois, Bethany and Margo.
Monday night a few members from ACFW went out for dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company & Market. Pictured below with fellow authors, Amberly & Brandilyn Collins, Kim Woodhouse and Lori, Kim Vogel Sawyer (hidden), myself and Amy Clipston.
Tuesday afternoon, I enjoyed a nice lunch with agent, Rachelle Gardner and then had my book signing at the STL Booth during the retail show. I am happy to report that we gave away a LOT of books, and I was able to sign continuously for an hour. The folks at STL (distributor company) were very helpful and a delight to work with. Here with Megan DiMaria.
Immediately following the book signing, I headed back home and stayed overnight in Colby, KS where I met Amy Wilson, Miss Rodeo America 2008. (I'll post more on my visit with Amy next week.) Further down I-70 and three book stores later, I had coffee in Topeka with fellow KS author, Judith Miller before driving the last treck of my journey. My GRAND Adventure turned out to be a lovely experience and one I will cherish for a good, long time.
